The school endorses the idea of a well-rounded and balanced education, with the intention of sending into the world compassionate, understanding and resourceful South African citizens who display a solid work ethic and can contribute positively towards a community. Much of this is achieved through strong extra-mural involvement. Learners acquire important life skills through their participation and commitment: good sportsmanship, camaraderie, leadership, the ability to respond to criticism, friendship, co-operation and a wholesome, healthy outlook.

Rhenish Girls’ High attends a number of sporting festivals and tournaments annually. Our water polo1st teams attend the Oakhill Waterfront tournament in Knysna and the Reddam Stayers Tournament in Cape Town.  Our 2nd and U16A water polo teams attend the Alexander Road High School tournament in Port Elizabeth. We also send our U14A water polo team to the Dave Pitcairn Cup at Reddam.

Our Tennis 1st team takes part in the Sun City Tournament in Johannesburg and the Gerrie Berner Tournament in Stellenbosch while the U15A team takes part in the Stellenbosch Tournament.

We attend the National Girls’ Schools’ Festival, which is hosted by different schools. We are represented at this tournament by our netball, hockey, squash, debating and chess teams.

Our swimming team tour to Durban every alternate year and the swimming team participates in the weekly Western Province swimming league and they attend the A League Boy/Girl Gala that we have won for 11 consecutive years.

The 1st Hockey team takes part in the Cape Town International Hockey Tournament and the Spar 1st team challenge.

Our  1st Squash team takes part in the Top 8 Tournament hosted by a different school each year.

Netball 1st, U16A, U15A and U14A teams attend local tournaments hosted by schools in the Boland region.

We are very proud of our Collegiate Girls' High annual Derby which is hosted by the respective schools on alternative years.  This affords many of our teams the opportunity to compete at a high level in a friendly environment against a school that we would otherwise only encounter at the All Girls' Festival.

Our athletes participate in a unique competition - the 4M (the four girls' schools in the Boland region participate in this.  They also participate in the Maties/PRG Mile, Bredasdorp Top 10 Schools and the Maties summer/hostel league.

We have students who have represented South Africa at swimming, athletics, hockey, indoor hockey, tennis, gymnastics, horse riding, action netball and karate. We also boast a large number of girls who have represented their province in a wide variety of sports.
