Role
- To assist in promoting Rhenish’s core values of Excellence, Compassion, Accountability, Integrity and Diversity.
- To promote enthusiasm and spirit within all areas of the school.
- To strive to be modest in victory and gracious in defeat.
- To maintain a high standard of behaviour and conduct and to wear the Cheerleaders uniform with pride by being a role model.
- To represent the school at all major events during the term of office.
- To liaise with school management and liaison teachers.
Tasks
- To represent the school at all home games and cultural activities as well as at all major school events during the year.
- To promote school spirit in the school.
- To act responsibly with or without the cheerleading uniform.
- To liaise and work co-operatively with the Rhenish staff, other leaders within the school and the whole school.
Qualities Required
- School loyalty, discretion and integrity.
- Leadership, responsibility and accountability.
- Initiative, the ability to delegate and to work as part of a team.
- The ability to see tasks through to completion.
- A concern for the welfare of others.
- A demonstrated interest and involvement in school life.
- Humility and the ability to put the school above self.
- Good school attendance.
- Patience and the ability to negotiate with both teachers and peers.
- Diplomacy.
Election Process
- Any learner who is not a member of the LC, a Mentor or a member of the Matric Committee is eligible to apply to serve as a Cheerleader in her Grade 12 year.
- A learner can be excluded from being considered for nomination at the discretion of the Principal if:
- She has been in detention more than once during her Grade 11 year.
- She has not contributed to the school extramurally in some capacity during her Grade 11 year.
- She does not achieve a 55% aggregate or above throughout her Senior Phase. In addition, in Grade 11, there may be no subject failures and /or two or more subjects below 40%.
- Interested learners must apply in writing. Application forms will be available from liaison teachers.
- Voting will take place by the Grade 11s during an assigned registration period and 8 learners will serve as Cheerleaders in their Grade 12 year.
Note: In order to spread leadership opportunities, a cheerleader may not serve on the Matric Committee in her final year.

The Cheerleaders for 2019 were announced at the final assembly of the third term.
