Kayamandi Society
On Monday afternoon fifteen Rhenishers met at the rose garden after school. We were waiting for a bus. Our destination: Sibongomusa Crèche in Kayamandi. The Kayamandi Society tries to arrange visits to the crèche on a weekly basis. Our aim is twofold: firstly, we try to organise projects that are either aimed at upgrading the facilities in some way or projects that will directly benefit the children there. Secondly, we visit so that we can engage the children in stimulating activities.
The children came running to meet us on Tuesday, filled with excitement. They were so happy that we were there. Their smiling faces lit up our day.
Together we played with balls and hula-hoops and then taught them clapping games. These afternoons definitely bring out our inner children as we eagerly get involved in games many of us have not played since we too were very small. We also donated non-perishable foods that they were in need of to the crèche.
Before we knew it, our time was up and it was time to go. It is wonderful to reach out to the Kayamandi community in this way. Thank you, Ms Davids for taking us. Your time and effort is much appreciated.
